Focus Timer privacy policy
Effective date: 23 August 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how your information is collected, used, and shared when you use the app. By using the app, you consent to the practices described below. Data collected is used solely to provide and improve the service. It is not sold, and it is not used for advertising.
Information Collection and Use
The app does not require an account and does not ask for your name, email address, or phone number. Most of what you create — focus sessions, categories, statistics and settings — is stored locally on your device.
Some features require sending data to our servers or to third parties. Those features are described individually below. Where data leaves your device, it is limited to what the feature needs in order to work.
AI Assistant
When you send a message in the AI chat, the text of your message and the recent messages in that conversation are sent to our backend, which forwards them to OpenAI to generate a reply. OpenAI acts as a processor for this request. We do not use your conversations to train models.
Your conversation history is stored locally on your device and is limited to the most recent messages. You can delete it at any time in Settings → Delete chat. Deleting the app also deletes the history.
Please do not enter sensitive personal information — such as health, financial or identity data — into the chat.
Notifications and Live Activities
If you allow notifications, your device's push token is sent to our backend together with your app version and the language of your device, so that reminders and timer notifications can be delivered.
If you use Live Activities, the current state of your session — the phase, remaining time, cycle number, and the name and emoji of the selected category — is sent to our backend so the Live Activity can be updated on your Lock Screen. This data is deleted when the session ends.
Subscriptions and Purchases
Purchases are processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat to verify subscription status. RevenueCat receives an anonymous identifier and your purchase transactions. We never receive your payment details.
If you request a refund for an in-app purchase, relevant data about your purchase activity — such as usage time, anonymous account identifiers, total spending, and refund details — may be shared with Apple.
Analytics and Crash Reporting
We use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand how the app is used and to diagnose crashes. These collect an app instance identifier, device model, operating system version, and crash diagnostics.
This data is not linked to your identity and is not used to track you across other companies' apps or websites. The app does not use the advertising identifier and does not contain advertising.
iCloud Sync
If you enable cloud sync, your settings, categories, statistics and chat history are stored in your own iCloud account using Apple's key-value storage. This data is held in your iCloud, not on our servers, and is governed by Apple's privacy policy. Turning sync off stops further uploads.
App Blocking
If you enable app blocking, the selection of apps and categories you choose is stored on your device using Apple's Screen Time framework. Apple provides this selection to us only as opaque tokens; we cannot see which apps you selected, and the selection never leaves your device.
Log Data
In case of an app error, we may collect information through third-party services known as Log Data. Log Data can include details such as your device IP address, device type, operating system version, app configuration, usage times and dates, and other technical statistics.
Service Providers
Third-party companies may be employed to facilitate the service, to provide services on our behalf, or to help us analyse how the app is used. The providers currently used are:
- Apple — purchases, notifications, and iCloud storage
- OpenAI — generating replies in the AI chat
- RevenueCat — verifying subscription status
- Google Firebase — analytics and crash reporting
These third parties have access to your information only to perform these tasks and must not disclose or use it for any other purpose.
Data Retention and Deletion
Chat history is kept on your device until you delete it. Push tokens and Live Activity state are kept on our servers only while they are needed to deliver notifications, and are removed when a token becomes invalid or a session ends.
Deleting the app removes all local data. To request deletion of anything held on our servers, contact us at the address below.
Security
Protecting your data is important to us, but no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure. Although reasonable measures are taken to secure your data, absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
Links to Other Sites
The app may include links to external sites not operated by us. Clicking a third-party link redirects you to an external site. We strongly recommend reviewing the privacy policy of every site you visit, as we have no control over and cannot be responsible for their content or practices.
Children's Privacy
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and discover that your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately. Upon learning of such data collection without verified parental consent, we will promptly remove the information.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Any updates will be communicated by posting the revised policy on this page. You are encouraged to review this page periodically. Changes become effective immediately upon posting.
